‘Saving’ time is upon us!

- MARIE ROY WCN Columnist

Remember to set your clocks ahead this Saturday night, March 12, in case you might forget it Sunday morning and miss church service. Yes, daylight “saving” time is upon us! I still agree with the old Indians: “Cut off one end of blanket and sew on the other end— blanket still same length.” It just moves the clocks enough to confuse us, twice a year.

According to some records, time for the summer golfers is longer. A few years ago, the saving time began April 4 and ended Oct. 1. At one time, it ended the last of September, now it is Nov 6.

Addison Roy had a fun “second” birthday, even though she is eight years old, and there is a 29 on the calendar this year.

She and her friends enjoyed the party Saturday in Hopes and Dreams Gymnastics in Springdale.

The beautiful crocuses have bloomed and wilted. Now the countryside is bright with daffodils. While driving by a place of construction we noticed where the future lawn had been torn up and was covered with debris, but through it all, a large bed of bright yellow daffodils bravely showed their colors; and if by chance they happen to suffer a freeze they will as always come back to life, brave little daffodils!

Some cute humor. The four-year-old’s father was transferred to a new Navy base, so her parents quizzed her about their address. After she recited it perfectly, they continued-“City?” they asked. “Memphis” she answered. “State?” ” Tennessee.” “County?” “Tis of thee.” Happy birthday to Myrtle Ray, Charlie Pitts, Charles Metcalf, Starla Boyd, Ronnie Chambliss, Johnny Chambliss, Don McKelvy, Lisa Rawls, Debbie Stout, Robin George, Amy Rush, Jerry Bradley.

Happy Dustin and Tiffany Long, Barry and Nicole Evans, Al and Sue Sanders. Happy years, all Remember recycling Monday, March 14.
