Help Clean Prairie Grove Bat­tle­field Park Satur­day

Look­ing for a way to give of your time and tal­ents?

Make plans to help with An­nual Park Day at Prairie Grove Bat­tle­field State Park. The start­ing time is 9 a.m. Satur­day, April 2, and vol­un­teers are needed to clean up the grounds and get the park ready for its spring and sum­mer sea­son.

Clean-up jobs will in­clude pick­ing up lit­ter along park tour roads and trails, rak­ing leaves, re­pair­ing and re­plac­ing split rail fences, clean­ing his­toric build­ings and main­tain­ing his­toric vegetable and herb gar­dens. Some tools will be pro­vided.

Please bring gloves and tools if pos­si­ble. Cof­fee, wa­ter and snacks will be pro­vided.

Vol­un­teers will meet at Hindman Hall Vis­i­tor Cen­ter and groups are asked to call ahead so the park can pre­pare for you.

Vol­un­teers re­ceive a “Park Day” T-shirt, and will have the op­por­tu­nity to hear a lo­cal his­to­rian dis­cuss the sig­nif­i­cance of this site. Ev­ery­one is in­vited, in­clud­ing scouts, church groups, re- en­ac­tors, fam­i­lies, and in­di­vid­u­als.
