Ozarks Elec­tric Co­op­er­a­tive Reaches Safety Mile­stone

Ozarks Elec­tric Co­op­er­a­tive re­cently an­nounced it passed a ma­jor mile­stone in em­ployee safety, reach­ing five years with­out a lost work­day ac­ci­dent. The sig­nif­i­cant achieve­ment was reached at mid­night March 3.

The mile­stone equates to more than 1.8 mil­lion work­ing hours for a com­pany that logs more than one mil­lion miles on the road each year. The elec­tric util­ity in­dus­try is also ranked in the top ten among the most haz­ardous oc­cu­pa­tions in the coun­try.

“In an in­dus­try that re­quires a strong ded­i­ca­tion to safety, we are ex­tremely proud to reach this in­cred­i­ble mile­stone,” said Mitchell John­son, pres­i­dent/CEO of Ozarks Elec­tric. “This mo­men­tous oc­ca­sion is in­dica­tive of the cul­ture of safety our em­ploy­ees cre­ate and fos­ter on a daily ba­sis.

“It’s that kind of ded­i­ca­tion and fo­cus that al­lows all of us to re­turn home to our fam­i­lies, safe and sound, each and ev­ery night. Ozarks Elec­tric, in­cor­po­rated in 1938, is a mem­berowned elec­tric co­op­er­a­tive, serv­ing more than 70,000 me­ters across nine coun­ties in North­west Arkansas and North­east Ok­la­homa.
