Walker Won’t Play

PRAIRIE GROVE — Prior to Thursday’s Black and Gold game, Prairie Grove football coaches received word that barring a miracle, senior wingback/tight end Solomon Walker won’t play this season.

Head coach Danny Abshier confirmed the report, describing Walker’s enthusiasm for the game.

“He’s just a motor, he just goes and goes,” Abshier said. “The harder we work him, the more he goes. It’s hard to see a kid like that not be able to play.”

Defensive Coordinator Craig Laird said the team will still be good without Walker, but not as good as they would be with him. Up until the last moment, Laird was hopeful Walker would receive medical clearance to play. The plan was to move Walker from the secondary where he played last season to defensive end.

“He runs really well,” Laird said. “He’s a hard worker, who comes in extra. He’s a leader, he’s vocal.”
