Broyles Street Storage To Expand
FARMINGTON — The Planning Commission approved a large-scale development plan last week to add additional buildings to Broyles Street Storage at 267 Broyles St., in Farmington.
According to the plan, the business will add seven more storage buildings on four acres adjacent to the current facility.
Planners also voted to recommend that land in the city of Fayetteville but located next to Farmington’s city boundary be rezoned to residential single family and residential-agriculture.
Because the land is adjacent to Farmington city limits, state law requires Farmington to also approve the rezoning.
Rausch Coleman Homes requested the rezoning for undeveloped property north of Colfax Loop and behind Williams Elementary School on Broyles Street.
According to information submitted to the Planning Commission, some of the land is floodplain and tree preservation and would not be developed.
The rezoning would allow eight units per acre but because of the nature of the land, the net density will be about four houses per acre, said Jesse Fulcher with Rausch Coleman in a memo to the city of Farmington.
The Commission’s recommendation will be forwarded to Farmington City Council for final approval.
Fayetteville’s Planning Commission already has approved the request on its end.
