LINCOLN — Westville, Okla. handed the Wolves a lopsided loss for the second consecutive season, beating Lincoln, 42-7, on the Wolves’ home field in their season-opener Friday.

Lincoln’s lone touchdown came from senior tight end Dalton Lee (6-1, 195), who enjoyed a very productive junior season with 22 catches for 341 yards and 5 touchdowns. He led the team in scoring receptions and Lincoln head coach Don Harrison plans to employ his versatility.

“We can move him around all over the place, and we like to move him around,” Harrison said.

Lee and quarterback Harrison Swayne have good chemistry from having played together a lot.

“There’s a good rapport between the two of them,” Harrison said.

Lee caught a pass just inside the Westville 20, then made his way past would-be tacklers toward the goal line. Westville defensive back Brent Sanders and middle linebacker Will Atchison pursued and had a chance to tackle Lee inside the 10, but he tip-toed past them along the left sideline and by the time cornerback Dagan Hembree caught up, Lee was in the end zone.

Lincoln’s next opponent is Keys, Oklahoma. The Keys Cougars have 9 seniors on their roster. They were defeated 14-0 by Checotah, last week. Keys (17) had more first downs than Checotah (13) and passing yards were about even with Keys gaining 49 yards via the air on 5-of-10 passing with no interceptions. Checotah had 53 passing yards, completing 7- of-17 attempts with one interception. Neither team was able to run the football well. Keys averaged a single yard- per- carry, gaining 31 yards on 31 attempts; while Checotah gained 72 yards on 31 attempts. The teams played to a scoreless draw at halftime. Checotah finally got on the scoreboard on Ronny Hall’s 7-yard run in the third period. An extra-point kick made the score 7-0, which was the margin after three quarters of play. In the fourth quarter, Checotah added a second touchdown on Chris Read’s 6-yard reception on a pass from Cade Shropshire with the point- after kick accounting for the 14-0 final. The Cougars graduated five players from last year’s squad, which beat Lincoln, 21-18, at Wolfpack Stadium.

Junior High

Lincoln won the junior football game, 22- 6, over Westville Thursday. The Wolves got touchdowns from wide receiver Daytin Davis as the eighth-grader hooked up with quarterback Tyler Brewer for big plays. The junior Wolves entertain Keys, Okla. at home Thursday.
