Historical Society To Honor Two
The Washington County Historical Society will honor Carolyn Reno and Gretchen Gearhart as Distinguished Citizens during the 2016 Annual Meeting, at 12: 30 p. m., Sunday, Oct. 9.
The annual luncheon will be held at Mermaids Restaurant in Fayetteville. Tickets are $30.

Both women have had lengthy careers preserving the history of Washington County for others to enjoy.
Reno answered a newspaper want ad in 1974 to begin her career at the Shiloh Museum of Ozark History. Today she is a collections manager and assistant director of the Shiloh Museum. She has been honored by local, state and national organizations for her skills.
Gearhart, a native of Fayetteville, has served as an assistant editor for the Arkansas Historical Quarterly ( 1992-1998) and has also served as the editor for the Washington County Historical Association’s Flashback from 20032006.
Retired Circuit Judge Kim Smith, president of the Washington County Historical Society, will give the annual report on the organization. First Vice President for Membership Steve Litzinger, will offici- ate the presentations and emcee the meeting.
The annual election of officers and board members for 2017 will also take place at this meeting.
