Oct. 3 Marked End Of ‘Year Of Jubilee’

Unless you were raised as a Jew, you wouldn’t know about Israel’s feast days. These events are memorials in time. They are divine markers of history and serve as prophetic pictures of redemption.

Rosh Hashanah is the Jewish New Year. It was on Oct. 3 this year. It also marked the end of the Year of Jubilee.

I love the concept of Jubilee. It was God’s idea to proclaim liberty to His people. For Jubilee, all slaves are freed. All debts are canceled. All land returns to its rightful heir. What if a Jubilee could be celebrated by the whole world? What joy and blessings we’d see!

This Jubilee Year was special. It was the 70th since Moses received the Ten Commandments. It was the 40th since Jesus was crucified. Can this be significant? I think so.

In covenant history and by faith in the God of the Bible, Israel and America are connected. In Philadelphia, America’s Liberty Bell is inscribed with a verse from the Hebrew Bible, the Old Testament. It reads “proclaim liberty throughout all the land” (Leviticus 25:10 KJV). This is God’s Jubilee proclamation. Ezekiel the prophet said that if you had mortgaged your land, it must be released the “year of Liberty” ( Ezekiel 46: 17). Jubilee is Good News!

Isaiah the prophet said that Jesus the Messiah would “proclaim liberty to captives” (Is. 61:1- 2). In the New Testament, Jesus read these exact words as He proclaimed His kingdom and began healing the sick and expelling evil spirits (Luke 4:19).

On God’s calendar, the season has shifted. Two things are now due: Judgment and Jubilee. For the righteous, bondage is broken, debts are canceled, and inheritance is restored. Jesus is distributing the benefits of His kingdom! For those who reject God, more tribulation, distress, and anxiety. Pressure is increasing on the wicked.

I would hate to be walking around without a covenant with God right now. Jesus said that His holy angels will divide humanity at the end of the age (see Matthew 13:39-43). I write about this and other things in my upcoming book, “Engaging Heaven’s Army.”

You and I have no ability to avoid or alter the season the world is now entering. Some events are predetermined. I expect to see more supernatural blessings and more terrible natural judgments. God will honor His calendar and He will uphold His word.

I am very grateful for knowing the grace of the Lord Jesus and for knowing how to pray in the power of the Spirit. God invites us to seek His face and to ask for His will to be done.

I’m praying for America’s next President, too. I pray that God’s choice of His chosen leader will be apparent and I pray that everything wicked that’s been concealed will be uncovered.

The times have changed. Your choices are now being added up. Do you want God in your life? Do you want to go your own way? The angels arriving now will assist you. They’ll make certain that you get exactly what you want as you decide whether you are God’s planting (the wheat) or the devil’s seed ( the tares). My advice? There’s no better way to live than being a follower of Jesus.
