Dillon Clifford Dexter
Dillon Clifford Dexter, 92, of Prairie Grove, Ark., went to be with his Lord on Thursday, Dec. 29, 2016, at Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville, Ark. He was born Dec. 7, 1924, in Cohasset, Minn., the son of Warren and Hazel Dexter.
He retired as Lieutenant Commander after 29 years of service in the United States Navy. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Prairie Grove. Although he grilled the best beef and pork imaginable, he was a friend to animals both wild and domesticated. He was also a devoted husband who nursed his wife through nearly ten years of Alzheimers in their home.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Mary Lee Dexter; and three brothers, Eugene, Delbert and Dennis.
He is survived by his son, Greg Dexter of Fayetteville; sister- in- law, Bobbie June Peters of Fayetteville; his good friends, Kenny and Cheryl Collinge of Cohasset, and Dorothy Cox Hector of Fayetteville; several special nieces, nephews, neighbors and friends.
Funeral service was held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2017, at First Presbyterian Church in Prairie Grove. Burial was in the Vaught Cemetery in Mountainburg, Ark., with full military honors.
Pallbearers were James Faddis, Ike Smith, Clancy McMahon, Kenny Collinge, Jim Vaught, Robert C. Vaught and Mark McCabe.
Honorary Pallbearers were LeRoy Duell, Ron Revard, D. D. Dunn, Hugh Cobb and Ed Allen.
