Kitchen Band Serenades Seniors

- MARIE ROY WCN Columnist

There have been jokes that if most people made as many mistakes on their jobs as the weather forecasters do, they would be fired. The reason the forecasters aren’t always right, they are dealing with something that is out of man’s control. As one good forecaster said many years ago, “The only way to predict perfect weather is to say there is a 50 percent chance it will and a 50 percent chance it won’t.”

Our cousin called from California and said they had received three inches of rain and it was still raining. She said they actually have tiny green grass shoots showing up, this after six years of drought, when if they got a shower, it would only be enough to make a mess of the dust that had settled everywhere.

Lincoln Kitchen Band members went to Prairie Grove Health and Rehab on Tuesday and enjoyed it as usual, though their dog didn’t dance this time. He did greet everyone, and on the last song, he joined in with his own vocal version. We enjoyed visiting with friends Lilly Garcia, Sue Heisler and Frances McCratic. One resident, Larry, entertained with his dancing and singing, and he asked that the band return and sing for his birthday in October.

It’s surprising what it costs to keep our Senior Center operating. One way to pay for it is through fund raisers. The Center is planning a cook book to sell at the Arkansas Apple Festival. To help, bring a copy of your favorite recipes to the center during the next two months.

Happy birthday to Ryan May, Bryles Myers, Janice Waldrop, Bo Jones, Josh Moore, Jack Norton, Judy Cohea, Doris Danforth, Elizabeth Lockhart, Gerda Meyer, Dianna Payne, Doy Lee Curtis, Leta Long and Neta Snarr. Happy anniversary to Charlie and Carol Pitts, James and Marsha King.

Happy years all!
