Sonny Lankford

Sonny Lankford, 80, of Fayetteville, Ark., passed away Friday, Feb. 17, 2017, in Fayetteville. He was born Jan. 10, 1937, in Viney Grove, Ark., the son of William and Ella (Slaughter) Lankford.

He was preceded in death by his parents; eight brothers, Lloyd, Buriel, Herman, Garland, Harold, J.D., Vernon, and Raymond; three sisters, Lela Pense, Ethel Duncan and Beulah Lankford.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Glenda Tunnell Lankford; his daughter, Joyce Martin of Bella Vista, Ark.; his son, Alan Lankford of Fayetteville; six grandchildren, Jason, Jeff, and Jaymes on Brown, Breigh Anne, Lindsey and Carter Lankford; three great-grandchildren, Alyson and Collin Brown and Aniya Lankford; one brother, Lawrence Lankford; four sisters, Juanita Dollarhide, Jimmie Guthrie, Marie Ross and Joan Pense; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 20, 2017, at Luginbuel Chapel in Prairie Grove, Ark. Burial was in the Weddington Cemetery.
