Members Celebrate FFA Week
FFA Chapters across the country will celebrate National FFA Week, Feb. 18-25. This year’s theme is Transform Purpose to Action, and it embraces more than 89 years of FFA traditions, while looking forward to the organization’s future.
Almost 650,000 members will participate in National FAA Week activities at local, state and national levels. These members have a passion for agriculture.
The week- long tradition began in 1947 when the National FFA Board of Directors designated the week of George Washington’s birthday as National FFA Week in recognition of his legacy as an agriculturist and farmer. The first National FFA Week was held in 1948.
Today’s FFA members are innovators and leaders of tomorrow. Through agriculture and hands-on learning, they are preparing for 235 unique career opportunities in the food, fiber and natural resources industry. National FFA Week is sponsored by Tractor Supply Company.
Lincoln, Prairie Grove and Farmington FFA chapters remain active throughout the school year and many students are busy in the summer taking care of animals in preparation for county and state fairs in the fall. These students are involved in other activities in FFA, including speech, parliamentary procedures and horticulture events.
The Enterprise- Leader recognizes the excellent programs at these three high schools. Local club members have submitted articles and photos highlighting activities in 2016, and describing why they are passionate about agriculture education and FFA membership.
