Parking Cars At County Fair

- By Haylie West

Hello, my name is Haylie West and I am a senior at Prairie Grove High School. I have been a member of FFA since my 8th- gradeyear.

Each year during the Washington County Fair, not only do we have several students competitively compete showing their livestock projects, but our chapter also parks cars, maintains the grounds through the week, and ensures the grounds are in great shape prior to the fair.

This is an important proj- ect that our chapter has taken on for over 20 years.

Our chapter works to ensure that cars are organized in a manner that prevents any hassle to families entering and leaving the fairgrounds.

During each day of the fair a select number of students help maintain the grounds by removing any trash that has accumulated from the previous night and making sure all buildings are swept and in good conditions for the fair goers.

After the county fair, students return to the grounds to remove trash, clean the livestock pens, sweep the craft buildings, and whatever else is required to ensure that the grounds are in the same shape if not better, than before the fair took place.

The county fair is a great opportunity for members in our chapter to serve not only our chapter but to give back to the community.
