Eggstravaganza Draws Hundreds Of Kids

- By Lynn Kutter

FARMINGTON — Saturday was a sunny, windy day, just right for hundreds of youngsters to run around picking up Easter eggs filled with candy at Williams Elementary School in Farmington.

Around 500 parents, grandparents and children hunted eggs and enjoyed other activities at the 8th Farmington Eggstravaganza, sponsored by Farmington Area Kiwanis Club.

The Easter egg hunt, of course, was the big draw for the day but many other activ- ities were going on to keep everyone entertained.

Tables were set up to paint faces and nails. In another area, visitors could sit and have free hotdogs and drinks. Another part of the playground had several games for older children to try.

Taking selfies with the Easter bunny remain popular throughout the day, both before the Egg hunts and afterward. The Easter bunny line stayed long as children waited to have their photos taken by their mother’s or father’s cellphone.

While Farmington Kiwanis Club sponsors the annual Easter egg hunt, it is only able to do so with the help of volunteers from many other clubs and organizations.

Sponsors and volunteers this year included First Security Bank, Farmington High students, Northwest Assembly of God, Casey’s General Store, Tyson Foods, Astra - a student community service club with Fayetteville High School - Farmington Public Library, Friends of the Library, Wal- Mart Neighborhood Market and Altrusa International. Other businesses and groups helped by stuffing Easter eggs with candy prior to the event.
