Charlie Burns

Charlie Burns, 74, of Fayettevil­le, Ark., passed away Saturday, April 22, 2017, at his home. He was born May 28, 1942, in Leavenwort­h, Kan., to Charlie Crockett and Fay Barnett Burns.

Charlie was a truck driver. He worked at Highland Dairy for 42 years. He enjoyed camping, fishing and spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Dessie Lee Burns, of 38 years; two sisters, Ruby Peoples and Mary Tilley; one great-granddaugh­ter, Adalyn Hope Petryszak.

He is survived by his sons, Melvin Andrews and Donna of Springdale, Ark., Charles Burns and wife Kathy of Springdale, Perry Davis and wife Brenda of Goshen, Ark., James Burns and wife Sarah of Springdale, Leslie Andrews of Goshen; his daughter, Karen Burns of Lincoln, Ark; his brothers, Jimmy Burns and William Burns; 13 grandchild­ren; and nine great-grandchild­ren.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 26, 2017, at Sisco Funeral Chapel of Springdale with Pastor Danny Williams officiatin­g. Burial will follow in Burkshed Cemetery.

Frank Crouch

Frank Crouch, 77, of Prairie Grove, Ark., passed away April 18, 2017. He was born April 6, 1940, to Leon and Elsie Wiles Crouch.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Loretta.

He is survived by his step-children, Hazel Fleshman (Tyrone), Richard Coleman, James Coleman (Tina), Stella Coleman (Bryan) and Teresa Phillips (Stephen); and numerous grandkids and great-grandkids.

James A. Gates

CSM (ret) James A. Gates, 70, of Fayettevil­le Ark., passed away Sunday, April 16, 2017.

He was born Oct. 7, 1946, to James I. and Effie Gates in Farmervill­e, La.

He is survived by his wife, JoAnn of Fayettevil­le; daughter, Tina, of Farmington, Ark.; two sons, Bobby and wife Melissa of Las Vegas, Nev.; Chris and his wife Mary Lou of Fayettevil­le; seven grandchild­ren; and two great-grandchild­ren.

Donald Catfish Holt

Donald “Catfish” Holt, 68, of Lincoln, Ark., died Monday, April 17, 2017.

Survivors include a son, Randall Holt; daughters, Deborah Holt, June (Henry) Williams; brother, Adrian (Betty) Holt; 11 grandchild­ren; and numerous other family members.

Jim McCarty

Jim McCarty, 75, of Farmington, Ark., died Monday, April 17, 2017, in Springdale, Ark. He was born Oct. 25, 1941, in Combs, Ark., the son of William Riley and Bessie Marie Lackey McCarty.

He was an employee of Fayettevil­le Public School District for many years and was a Baptist.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Eldora Stanley McCarty; a daughter, Brenda McIlvain of Seligman, Mo.; two sons, Jamie Ray McCarty and Joe Dale McCarty, both of Farmington; and a dog Patches whom he adored; two sisters, Joy Nelson and her husband Jerry of West Fork, Ark., and Janice Pense and her husband Carl of Fayettevil­le; a brother, James McCarty and his wife Shirley of Ventura, Calif.; and many nieces and nephews.

Graveside service was held Wednesday, April 19, 2017, at Dowell Cemetery, under the direction of Moore’s Chapel. Memorials may be made to Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (National Headquarte­rs), 6931 Arlington Rd., 2nd Floor, Bethesda, MD 20814.

Douglas McCasland, III

Don Douglas “Doug” McCasland III, 51, of Seligman, Mo., passed away Sunday, April 16, 2017, at his home. He was born April 2, 1966, in Oklahoma City, Okla., the son of Don Douglas McCasland Jr. and Pamela (Sallinger) McCasland. On Nov. 14, 2016, he was united in marriage to Sherri Bray, who survives.

Also surviving are his father, Don Douglas McCasland Jr. of Oklahoma City; grandmothe­r, Nadine McCasland of Seligman; two sons, Deryk Godsey and his wife Patsy of Seligman and Colton Douglas McCasland of Fayettevil­le, Ark.; one daughter, Brooke Boles and her husband Martin of Rogers, Ark.; three step-daughters, Katie Cook and her husband Brandon of Prairie Grove, Ark., and Emily Henry and Shelby Dean both of Seligman; two sisters, Michelle McCasland of Berryville, Ark., and Misty McCasland of Rogers; and three grandchild­ren, Braden, Hudsyn and Myah Boles.

Preceding him in death were his mother, Pamela McCasland and grandfathe­r, Don Douglas McCasland Sr.

Vicki J. Smith

Vicki J. Smith, 71, of Farmington, Ark., passed away on Saturday, April 15, 2017, in Springdale, Ark. She was born on Feb. 10, 1946, in Rifle, Colo., to John and Patricia Harris Van Vacter.

She was a hard-working wife and mother and a devout Christian. She was a good listener and gifted with people.

She earned her second degree black belt in martial arts. She had a love for dancing and at one point received private lessons from Lucille Ball. She had an uncanny way of intersecti­ng with famous people and even had a private tour of Disneyland in California from Walt Disney himself.

She is survived by her three children, David Smith and husband Michael Melvin of Plano, Texas, Janet Comfort of Lake St. Louis, Mo., and Johnny Smith and wife Kaci of Farmington; three sisters, Stacey Wulf, Kelley Blecha and Sallee Gould; three brothers, Toby Van Vacter, Jimmy Van Vacter and John Van Vacter; six grandchild­ren, Davison Sarceno, McKenzie Comfort, Kasey Comfort, Hailey Smith, Lauren Smith and Garrick Crews; and her dog and best friend, Sam.
