Lincoln Rodeo Celebrates 64 Years
EVENTS PLANNED TO CONTINUE THROUGHOUT THE WEEK
LINCOLN — The Lincoln Rodeo, which commemorates 64 years this year, gets underway this week.
The Lil Miss and Lil Mister contests will be held at 7 p.m. on
Wednesday, followed by a street dance at the Lincoln square from
8 to 11 p.m. featuring Howard Lester and the Boston Mountain Playboys.
On Thursday, the action moves over to Lincoln Riding Club’s rodeo arena.
Competitive events feature: steer wrestling, bull riding, saddle bronc, team roping, bareback riding, barrel racing, calf roping and break-a-way roping. Junior barrels are 14 and under while peewee barrels are 8 and younger. There will be a calf scramble and nightly mutton busting for kids.
Hampton Rodeo Company is the stock contractor.
The rodeo is sanctioned by American Cowboys Rodeo Association and the International Professional Rodeo Association.
The Regulators, a trick riding group made up of girls of various ages, many of whom are members of the riding club, are scheduled to perform during this year’s rodeo.
This year’s rodeo also features a queen contest, junior queen competition and princess contest.
The stick horse grand entry held nightly at 7:30 p.m. gives youngsters an opportunity to be part of the rodeo, followed by the 8 p.m. rodeo performance.
At 4 p.m. Saturday, participants line up for the rodeo parade at Lincoln Riding Club arena.
The rodeo parade begins at 4:30 p.m., followed by the stick horse grand entry at 7:30 p.m. and final rodeo performance at 8 p.m.
