- By Mark Humphrey

LINCOLN — Seventeen-year-old Hannah Taylor, of Fayetteville, has a goal in mind while competing for the title of 2017 Lincoln Riding Club Rodeo Queen.

“If I am crowned Miss Lincoln Riding Club Rodeo, I will strive to be the best queen Lincoln has ever had,” Hannah said. “I want to encourage all the little girls at the rodeos sitting in the stands because I once was one of those little girls, and to tell them that if they work hard enough that they can make all their dreams come true. I would be honored to be Miss Lincoln Rodeo.”

Hannah, daughter of Tim and Amy Taylor, of Fayetteville, is a junior at Farmington High School. She has defined certain objectives she wants to accomplish during the competition.

“I hope that this experience will allow me to meet new friends and acquaintances that will increase my knowledge of rodeo and rodeo royalty, and strengthen my already strong bond with my horse Geronimo,” Hannah said. “Most importantly, to have an amazingly good time.

Among her long-range goals, Hannah hopes to one day become an equine veterinarian. Hannah said she loves her horse Geronimo. He is a big tall bay. According to Hannah, Geronimo loves attention and is always willing to learn. Hannah started riding when she was seven on a short, gray mare named Little Gray.

Hannah has been on the Arkansas Fillies Drill Team for three years. She enjoys performing with her team in front of the rodeo and other equestrian events crowds. Hannah is looking forward to competing in other horse-related events this year.

In addition to horses, Hannah enjoys being outdoors. She loves swimming, hunting, fishing, and camping. She enjoys working with animals. She also loves to sing and play the guitar.

Rodeo is a big part of Hannah’s life, as a whole. Being on the Arkansas Fillies drill team, takes her to local rodeos to perform. She has a great support group made of family and friends, whom she appreciates seeing in the crowd. According to Hannah, they love to come and watch her perform.

“I want to be Miss Lincoln Rodeo because I want to be a positive role model to the little girls sitting in the stands that will be waving back at me,” Hannah said. “I want to show the girls, who have big dreams, that they can do anything they set their minds to. I will attend many rodeos and represent the Lincoln Riding Club with positivity and respectfulness.”
