LINCOLN — Hampton Rodeo Company is the stock contractor for the 64th annual Lincoln Riding Club Rodeo.

According to the company mission statement, Hampton Rodeo Company endeavors to provide fast-paced family entertainment. Their recent track record showcases a string of successes. Several Hampton rodeos have been honored by the International Professional Rodeo Association in recent years. Pawnee Bill Memorial Rodeo in Pawnee, Okla. has been honored twice among the top five outdoor rodeos and the Madison County IPRA Rodeo at Huntsville has also been honored in this category. The White County Fair Rodeo at Searcy has been honored in the indoor division.

According to Lincoln Riding Club promotional releases for the 64th annual Lincoln Rodeo, Kevin Hampton strives to hire the best in rodeo personnel to insure the rodeos he produces run both smoothly and professionally.

Hampton Rodeo was born from an opportunity that was presented when preparation was equal to the moment. As a high school senior, Hampton had the ambition to build an indoor rodeo arena. Hampton was competing in both calf and team roping and his plans were to practice in his indoor arena, hold a few ropings, with the idea of hosting a few open rodeos.

Two years later, several rodeos were on schedule when the stock contractor Hampton had teamed with decided to liquidate his stock. According to Hampton, “This is where opportunity and timing struck,” and a new endeavor was forged in the spirit of American resourcefulness and enterprise.

Hampton ended up buying that contractor out and producing the scheduled rodeos himself. Hampton quickly figured out the stock contracting business was something he wanted to turn into a full-time job, and Hampton Rodeo Company was birthed into existence.

As time rocked on, Hampton started to contract a few small local rodeos, and began improving his stock. His business only grew from there, and 31 years later he has some impressive notches in his belt.

Hampton Rodeo Company has owned 11 IPRA Bucking Bulls of the Year, six IPRA Saddle Bronc Horses of the Year, and two IPRA Bareback Horses of the Year for a total of 19 Bucking Stock of the Year championships. In addition, Hampton Rodeo has been named IPRA Stock Contractor of the Year 19 times consecutively.

According to Lincoln Riding Club promotional material, Hampton continues to send more animals to the International Finals Rodeo in Oklahoma City, Okla. than any other stock contractor in the IPRA. Of those selected for the IFR over the years many have been named Bucking stock of the Finals.

The IPRA has been a good fit for Hampton who started with two sanctioned rodeos. In 2017, Hampton will produce 15 IPRA rodeos, including the International Finals Youth Rodeo in Shawnee, Okla. that runs 11 performances in 6 days.
