Farmington Diabetes Walk Set For Saturday
FARMINGTON — The annual Farmington Walk to Cure Diabetes will be held Saturday, Sept. 16, in the vacant lot next to the former Marvin’s IGA store and Oops store.
Registration begins at 8 a.m. and the walk starts at 9 a.m. Participants will walk along Southwinds Drive to Farmington United Methodist Church and then return to the vacant lot, about 1.4 miles.
Sonic is providing a small breakfast for participants and a raffle and silent auction will be available after the walk. A bounce house also will be open for children following the walk. Walk t-shirts will be available for $5.
All proceeds benefit the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
This is the third year that Stephanie Lovell, her family and a core group of friends have been spearheading the annual Diabetes Walk. Lovell’s son, Beau, was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes three years ago.
