BREA GRAGG TAKES OATH FOR PRAIRIE GROVE’S WARD 2 SEAT
PRAIRIE GROVE — Mayor Sonny Hudson last week administered the oath of office for the newest member of Prairie Grove City Council.
The Council on Nov. 20 voted to appoint Brea Gragg, 28, to fill the Ward 2 vacancy created by the resignation of Dale Reed. Reed had served as a council member since 2010 but resigned Nov. 1 because he moved out of the city limits.
After the vote, Gragg was sworn into office. Two Council members were absent from the meeting and Hudson said he wanted to go ahead and conduct a swearing-in ceremony because Gragg’s vote was needed to approve several motions.
Gragg already had been appointed to fill Reed’s position on Prairie Grove Planning Commission. Hudson said he didn’t know
if Gragg would continue on the Planning Commission or if another person would take her place on the panel.
Gragg graduated from Prairie Grove High School and has a bachelor’s degree in advertising and public relations and a master’s degree in higher education from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. She worked five years in teaching licensure for the UA and now is director of youth and children for Prairie Grove United Methodist Church.
She and her husband have a 2-year-old child.
Gragg said she is looking forward to serving on the City Council.
“I really love Prairie Grove and am excited to be a part of the growth of the community and would like to be a voice for my generation and what we want this town to be while keeping the traditions we have,” Gragg said.
