Ada Rutherford
Ada M. (Penny) Rutherford, 93, of Farmington, Ark., died Sunday, Dec. 10, 2017. She was born April 7, 1924, in Mountainburg, Ark., the daughter of William Henry and Callie Johnston Pense.
She was a graduate of Mountainburg High School and Fayetteville Business College. She was a housewife, mother and a telephone operator, an employee of John J. Carroll Company, Cal-Main Foods, Farm Service Co-op. She served on Cane Hill Presbyterian Church Sessions, taught Sunday School for 30 years and taught Bible School for several years. She was also a member and past president of Vera Skinner Circle. She served on the Farm Home Administration Committee, served on jury duty and the Washington County Welfare Committee.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Vol Rutherford; three sisters; and six brothers.
She is survived by a son, Don Rutherford and wife Wanda; a grandson, Joe Rutherford (Mendy); two granddaughters, Carla Munyon and Darla Montgomery (Dan); three great-grandchildren, Austin Munyon, Jordan Montgomery and Logan Montgomery; three step-great-grandchildren, Dan Montgomery, Toni Montgomery and Holly Smith (Cordell); four great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Dec. 13, at Moore’s Chapel. A private burial was in Fayetteville National Cemetery.
