BRRR…But The Sun Is Beautiful

- MARIE ROY WCN Columnist

News? It’s cold! After all, it is winter, and we have no wild fires, devastating mud slides, or dangerous, deep, snow with ice.

As usual, last fall it seemed that the days shortened too fast, with the sun coming up later and setting sooner, Now, it seems they are too slowly getting longer, as it is still dark at 7 a.m., especially if it is cloudy. I was thinking of that recently when I thought of this little saying I had heard, “Faith is the bird that feels the light and sings to greet the dawn while it is still dark.”

So I tell myself to wake up and enjoy the sun when it shines — it will shine hot enough next summer.

We humans are never satisfied, as an example, “While in surgery following a heart attack, a middle-age woman sees a vision of God by her bedside.

“Will I die?” she asks. God says, “No, you have 30 more years to live.”

With 30 years to look forward to, she decides to make the best of it. So while in the hospital, she gets breast implants, liposuction, a tummy tuck, hair transplants, and collagen injected into her lips.

She looks great! The day she’s discharged, she exits the hospital with a swagger, crosses the street, and is immediately hit by an ambulance and killed.

Up in heaven, she sees God. “You said I had 30 more years to live!”

“That’s true,” says God. “So what happened?” God shrugs. “I didn’t recognize you.”

Happy birthday greetings to Ryan May, Payton Long, Janice Waldrop, Brylee Myers, Bo Jones, Josh Moore, Jack Norton, Judy Cohea, Doris Danforth, Elizabeth Lockhart, Gerda Meyer, Dianna Payne.

Happy anniversary to Charlie and Carol Pitts, James and Marsha King.

Happy years, all!
