FFA — Feels Like Home
My most fun experience in Ag is everything I’ve ever done in the class and FFA: going on trips, competing, and meeting new friends. I have only been in Ag for two years now, but it feels like home. My Ag teachers don’t act just like teachers, they care about us, our safety, and our education, so they remind me of family. Going on trips is amazing, as well as seeing new people and experiencing so many different things.
Last summer I went to Arkansas Leadership Camp (ALC) and had the time of my life. I just love Ag trips and just Ag class because of the people in it. They are nice, humble people that don’t judge you because they are just small town people with a heart for agriculture. ALC taught me so many new things that can and have helped me with my chapter, leadership, communication, and just making the right decisions. My group went to a nursing home and sang and danced for the elders, some would sing with us and it felt so good to brighten their days, and that feeling I never want to fail to remember. Also, at the camp we would stay in a cabin with people in our chapter and it brought me closer with all of them.
Each year three of the six national officers come and speak to our Ag students. This year I was able to speak with one for almost an hour and I was so glad that I have the opportunities to experience these things. Without Ag and without accomplishing everything I have done in Ag, I wouldn’t be the person I am today, so I thank my teachers and my fellow peers.
