Lady Tigers Go To Gravette

— The Prairie Grove girls track and field team placed 14th in the team standings Thursday while competing at the Lion Invitation­al hosted by Gravette.

The Lady Tigers competed against many larger schools and several 4A teams. Grove, Okla., won the meet with 112 points followed by 7A Bentonvill­e West 94; 7A Rogers Heritage 82; Pea Ridge 64; 6A Siloam Springs 45; Shiloh Christian 39; 7A Van Buren 38; Jay, Okla. 34; Providence Academy 32; 3A Greenland 29; Gravette 22.5; 5A Farmington 18.5; West Fork 15; Prairie Grove 13; Ozark 10; Lincoln and Gentry 5 tied for 16th place; 3A Cedarville 3; and 3A Mansfield 2.

Bekah Bostian’s second place finish in the 3,200 meter was the top place for Prairie Grove. She ran the course in 11:59.03 behind Hailey Day, of Rogers Heritage, who was first in 11:33.42. Kendall Hays, of West Fork, placed fourth in 12:10.73.

Prairie Grove’s 4x800 relay team placed fourth with an 11:06.57 performanc­e. Team members include: Larisha Crawford, Lexi Madewell, Audrey Doering, and Bostian.

The Lady Tiger 4x100 relay team of Madewell, Emily Grant, Laura Simpson, and Meliah Hutsell placed 10th by turning in a time of 58.89.

Crawford missed a top-10 finish in the 800-meter run by less than a second. She finished 11th in 2:50.68 behind No. 10 Kimberly Guillen, of Siloam Springs, who placed 10th in 2:49.82. Megan Wilkerson placed 29th for Prairie Grove in 3:18.21.

In the triple jump event, Jordan Sugg placed 21st with a distance of 24-09.00; and Madewell cleared 22-06.00 to place 22nd.

In the 400-meter dash, Caitlyn Starr placed 33rd in 1:21.05; and Grace Ritchey was 35th in 1:25.20.

In the 200-meter dash, Katie Doering finished 38th in 33.21; Hutsell ran 41st with a time of 33.63; and Simpson placed 45th in 34.50.

Emily Traylor and Kaylee Elder competed in the discus throw. Elder also threw the shot put.

Simpson, Grant and Madewell competed in the long jump event.
