Dana Hugh Mattox, 59, died Monday, June 11, 2018, in Fayettevil­le, Ark.

He was born in Tulsa, Okla., and resided most of his life in Lincoln, Ark. He attended school in Lincoln and graduated from Lincoln High School. He went on to attend the University of Arkansas for a time before returning to Tulsa and graduating with an Associate Degree in Informatio­n Technology at Tulsa Junior College.

He returned to Arkansas where he worked most of his career in informatio­n technology/computer engineerin­g. He was employed at Cooper Communitie­s, Jones Truck Lines, and Car-Mart. He was a gentle soul who enjoyed solitude, being outdoors, camping, and attending an annual float trip with some of his oldest friends. He also enjoyed music and reveled in sharing that with his children, often playing “name that band,” with them. He had a good sense of humor and rarely a negative word to say.

He was preceded in death by his father, Darrell Mattox.

He is survived by his mother, Erma Nunamaker; two brothers, Kevin Mattox and Daryn Mattox; three children, Kyle Mattox, Korey Danley and Madelynne Mattox; and grandson, Jasper Danley.

He was buried at Edmiston Cemetery in Morrow, Ark. A memorial service to honor him was held at 1 p.m. Friday, June 15, at Mount Pleasant Church in Canehill, Ark.
