Guy Roderick Matthews

Guy Roderick Matthews, 72, of Prairie Grove, Ark., passed away Wednesday, July 18, 2018, at Willard Walker Hospice Home in Fayetteville, Ark.

He was born April 16, 1946, in Prairie Grove, the son of Roderick Gaston and Dolla M. (Ingram) Matthews. He had the GEM Tax Service for 45 years serving around 200 clients. He and his wife Erma owned and operated the Colonial Cafe over 35 years and Colonial Motel for the last 42 years and is still operating today.

He was a Christian man and a member of the Howe-Savoy Bible Church. He was an active member of the Gideons International. He loved to sing and tell jokes. He will be missed by his friends and family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Earlene Louise Matthews

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Erma Jean Matthews; one son, Tony Guy Matthews and wife Cassandra Marie of Bentonville, Ark.; three grandchildren, Allison Kay, Katie Grace and Evan Guy.

Funeral service was held 10 a.m. Saturday, July 21, 2018, at Luginbuel Chapel in Prairie Grove. Burial was in the Prairie Grove Cemetery. No graveside service was held.
