Many Show Up For Lincoln Alumni Party

- MARIE ROY WCN Columnist

The Lincoln School Alumni reunion was well attended Sunday, July 15, with members of thirty-three years’ graduations represented, from the years of class of 1941 to the class of 1981.

Four classes, ’41, ’42, ’45 and ’49 were represented from the ’40s. With perfect attendance, ten classes from the 1950s were present. From the 1960s, all classes except one were there, and the same with the 1970s. Last, the class of 1981 was represented but no one from the years later. If only the younger ones were interested. Several came from out of state and the area, one I know of, from California. It was as usual, a good time of reminiscing and “remember when,” especially with those we seldom see. I enjoyed a good visit with Debbie Welshenbaugh, a neighbor more than fifty years ago. ( I forgot to ask her married name).

Jeannie McClellan tells me that her mother Juanita, fell and suffered two bad cuts on her head, and a broken arm. She has run the gamut of stays in the hospital, Health South, and Peach Tree Village, and she is hoping to be home soon, She can now join those of us who have decided to concentrate on quitting, “falling around and fooling down.” We do wish her a speedy recovery.

There is some concern about the hay crop. If only the correctly forecast “spotty showers” would unite into a day or two of a general, steady drizzle.

Now some humor. A woman was frantic when she saw smoke coming from her garage. She called 911 to report the fire. “How do we get there?” asked the dispatcher. “Well the woman said, “don’t they use those big red trucks any more?”

Happy birthday to Daniel Bradley, Julie West, Michael Cox, Dawson Myers, Bryley Bradley, Bob Harrel, Nicholas Lyons, Megan Luttrell, Max Roeder, Wilma Shannon, Bonnie Waldrop, Kenny Bradley.

Happy years, all!
