Arnold To Sing National Anthem

- By Mark Humphrey

LINCOLN — Lincoln Riding Club junior queen Alexis Arnold, who won the crown during the 64th annual Lincoln Rodeo in 2017, has no fan more devoted than her mother, Amanda Arnold.

Last year’s bio submitted for Alexis when she was a candidate for LRC junior queen stated, “Her mom says she sings a lot,” so the Enterprise-Leader reached out to Amanda, who is currently serving Lincoln Riding Club in the office of Treasurer.

WCEL: Good morning Amanda, will you please answer a few questions about this singing cowgirl daughter of yours?

Amanda Arnold: Hello, Mark. I would love to answer your questions.

WCEL: Do you have a favorite song, you enjoy hearing Alexis sing?

Arnold: This is an easy one, Elvis Presley’s Can’t Help Falling In Love.

WCEL: Has Alexis been able to incorporate her love of singing into any of her appearances as Lincoln Riding Club junior queen?

Arnold: She has, as an impromptu moment. It was at the street dance of the 64th annual Lincoln Rodeo. There were a few moments while the judges scores were being tallied. They needed an impromptu at the mic. Alexis was given the microphone and she sung Can’t Help Falling In Love by Elvis Presley — a cappella.

WCEL: Has Alexis utilized singing as a means to further her platform as LRC junior queen?

Arnold: She plans to when the right opportunity arises.

WCEL: Would you say it’s an accurate description to say, “Alexis can’t contain herself, she loves to sing?”

Arnold: Absolutely.

WCEL: Does Alexis’ singing in any way dredge up memories of the singing cowgirl, Dale Evans, or Patsy Montana?

Arnold: Patsy Montana definitely. Alexis has a “twang” to her voice I enjoy listening to.

WCEL: In what ways have you witnessed that Alexis’ singing influences a rodeo audience or a rodeo pageant audience?

Arnold: Come out and hear for yourself, Friday night at the Lincoln Rodeo. She will be singing the National Anthem.
