David J. Posey

David J. Posey, 77, of Fayetteville, Ark., died Sunday,

Feb. 10,

2019, at Shiloh Nursing and Rehab in Springdale, Ark.

He was born Sept. 26, 1941, in Detroit, Mich., the son of Bill and Marley C. (Reineke) Posey. He served in the United States Air Force and retired after 24 years of service. After retiring from the service he continued his work with veterans, working for the state of Arkansas. He had previously served on the Greenland School Board. His hobbies included fishing, traveling, carpentry, woodworking and making toys in his shop for Arkansas Children’s Hospital as well as Shriner’s Hospital.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Don Posey.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Norma Posey; three daughters, Roxanna Birge and husband Jerry of Elm Springs, Ark., Tarrie Fraley and husband Todd of Fayetteville and Summer Morton and husband Clay also of Fayetteville; two sisters, Pat Hluchan of Springdale and Laura Jones of Paden, Okla.; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

A funeral service was held Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2019, at Luginbuel Chapel in Prairie Grove, Ark., with burial in the National Cemetery in Fayetteville.

Pallbearers were Todd Fraley, Jerry Birge, Clay Morton, David Mesplay, Jackson Copeland and Oscar Morton. Honorary pallbearer was David Qualls

In lieu of flowers family request memorials be made to the Arkansas Children’s Hospital or The Ronald McDonald House.
