Wanted: Food Manager

- By Lynn Kutter

FARMINGTON — Farmington Senior Activity and Wellness Center is looking for a new food service manager who has experience with cooking, ordering and managing a kitchen staff, said Tina Batlle, center director.

The position pays $12.30 per hour and the manager would work 6 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday-Friday.

“Experience is a must,” Batlle said. “We need someone who knows how to cook, understands portion control and portion sizes, how to order and work with grocers and knows how to manage a team. Plus has commercial equipment experience.”

For now, Batlle is covering the position. Since she’s been director at the Farmington center for five years, she’s had four different food service managers. Most had some experience with food service but Batlle is looking for someone who is “very experienced” this time around.

The kitchen staff provides meals Monday- Friday for curbside pickup (because of the covid-19 pandemic) and also prepares meals that are delivered to homebound senior adults in Farmington,

Greenland and West Fork.

The center asks senior adults 60 years and older who participate in the curbside meals to make a $3 donation per meal, though it is not required. Those who receive Meals on Wheels can make a donation if they are able to afford it, Batlle said.

Meals are available to people under 60 for $6.59, including tax.

Orders must be called in by 9:30 a.m. to pick up that day’s meal.

For more information about the position or to sign up with the center, contact Batlle at the center, 479-2675709.
