Revival begins tonight at Colcord church

Gentry Band selling Blue & Gold Sausage

The Gentry Junior High and High School Bands will be selling Blue & Gold sausage, bacon and chicken through Sept. 29. To order, contact Crystal Wood at 479-233-9021 or Cindy Philpott at 479-531-2723. Late orders cannot be accepted. The product will be in the week of Oct. 10. Prices are: 2 ½ -pound roll of sausage — $7 per roll, 3 ½ pound package of thick sliced bacon — $17 per package, and 5-pound bag of chicken strips — $21 per bag.

Lantern release to raise Alzheimer’s awareness

September is World Alzheimer’s Awareness Month. A lantern release will be held at Ozarks Community Hospital of Gravette at 8 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 22. OCH is preselling ecofriendl­y, wire free, fire resistant floating lanterns for $5 each until today. To purchase lanterns, call Amanda Gittlein at 417-344-6464 or email agittlein@ochonline.com. All proceeds go toward the completion of the Dr. Billy V. Hall Memorial Garden and for Alzheimer caregiver resources. Also, Mayor Kurt Maddox, Ron Teasley and Dr. Tucker are all in the running to dye their hair purple. Contributi­on jars are set up at OCH of Gravette hospital, city hall, Teasley Drug and Austin Drug. Whoever has the most money in his jar will have to dye his hair purple the night of the lantern release.

Lions Club Induction slated Sept. 26

The Gravette Lions Club will hold a special induction ceremony Monday, Sept. 26, at the Arvest Bank community room, 506 First Avenue, S.E., in Gravette. A taco bar will begin serving at 6:45 p.m. and the induction for two new members will be held at 7:30. Members from several western Benton County clubs, including Gentry, Bentonvill­e and Bella Vista, will be in attendance and will share informatio­n about their programs and fundraiser­s. The next Lions District Governor will also be present. All local members and interested potential members are urged to attend and learn more about the Lions’ work in the community.

Crafts and More Fair set

A Crafts and More Fair will be held from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Oct. 7 and 8, in the gym at the Maysville community building. Pickin’ Time on 59 is coming up Oct. 6-8

Pickin’ Time on 59 is coming up on Oct. 6-8. The event will feature yard and garage sales along Arkansas Highway 59 and in adjoining communitie­s between Siloam Springs and Sulphur Springs. The three-day event will feature yard-sale items, antiques and collectibl­es. More informatio­n and space to set up along the highway is available by contacting the chambers of commerce in Siloam Springs, Gentry, Decatur, Gravette and Sulphur Springs. In some cities, exemptions are being made for permits and/or fees for yard and garage sales. Participan­ts may be able to have their sales listed on fliers and publicatio­ns promoting sales by contacting their local Chamber offices.

Glow Ride scheduled for Oct. 15 in Gentry

The first annual Bicycle Glow Ride in Gentry is being planned for Saturday, Oct. 15. Participan­ts should bring their bicycles and meet in the Gentry City Park at 6 p.m. on the 15th. Free glow sticks will be provided to participan­ts. The ride through the park and around town (roughly 4 miles) begins at 7 p.m. Prizes will be awarded to the best-decorated bicycles. Participat­ion in the event is free.

FFA holding Blue & Gold meat sale until Sept. 26

Decatur Future Farmers of America is now taking orders for its annual Blue & Gold meat sale until Sept. 26. Products include a 2 ½ -pound package of sausage for $7,a 3 ½ -pound package of bacon for $17, and 5-pound package of breaded chicken fritters for $21. NAGS to meet Sept. 26

The Northwest Arkansas Genealogic­al Society will meet at 6 p.m. Monday, Sept. 26, at the Bentonvill­e Public Library, 405 South Main, Bentonvill­e. Monte Harris from the Rogers Historical Museum will present the program, “Women of the Loom,” telling the stories of the 1860’s handwoven coverlets now in the museum collection. She has been in charge of the adult education program for 18 years and her job also includes oral histories, bus tours and special local history programs for schools. Highfill breakfast set first Saturday of each quarter

Gravette farmers’ market open Saturdays

Gravette farmers’ market is open on Saturdays from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. in Old Town Park. Offerings include locally-grown fruits and vegetables, beef and pork, eggs, a variety of plants, baked goods, jams and jellies. Local crafts are also featured. Market vendors set up booths in the covered pavilion at the park.

Gentry farmers’ market open three days a week

The farmers’ market in Gentry is open on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays at the south side (along Arkansas 12) parking area of Gentry City Park. Farmers may set up between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Tuesdays, 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. on Thursdays, and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays.

Decatur farmers’ market open on Thursdays

The Decatur Farmers’ Market will continue operations at the Decatur Coop True Value Hardware store parking lot every Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. Homegrown fruits and vegetables, canned goods and handmade crafts are available for purchase. Share the Harvest Food Pantry in Gravette

Share the Harvest Food Pantry, located within Harvest Baptist Church in Gravette, is open every Thursday afternoon from 1 to 5 p.m. and every third Saturday of the month from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Clients are allowed to receive emergency food supplies one time per calendar month. Share the Harvest Food Pantry is a ministry of Harvest Baptist Church, located at 11036 N. Hwy. 59 in Gravette (two miles south of Gravette on Arkansas 59).
