Rex Lairdsen Franzen

-

Rex Lairdsen Franzen of Gentry, Arkansas, was granted his angel wings on October 22nd. His final days were spent surrounded by family and friends that Rex had touched throughout his short, yet very memorable life. He passed away peacefully in his parent’s arms.

Rex’s life would seem too short to many, but those who were touched by him understood that the quality of existence far exceeded the quantity of time in which he lived. His gentle smile could melt the hearts of those around him and, though he never spoke a word, his voice and thoughts could always be heard.

Although Rex’s illness made him appear frail, he possessed strength, bravery and an ability to overcome incredible odds and physical challenges. With his courage he led us to believe that each day is a blessing and an opportunity to create lasting memories. He could spend hours rocking in his favorite chair while cuddling close to those he loved so much. He enjoyed music, the wind in his hair and the rustling of leaves. He loved to be massaged with coconut oil and the sound of his Daddy’s voice. He loved to be surrounded by his brothers playing and to be snuggled close to his mamma while nursing.

With Rex’s passing, we remind others that his life is one to be celebrated. Although we will miss him every day, especially his sweet smile. He will forever remain in our hearts. Through his teachings about life, we were able to create wonderful memories and it has been a privilege to be his parents.

Rex had many wonderful caregivers that provided love and support that enhanced his quality of life. These special people, too numerous to mention, provided Rex with love and dignity in his life and also in his death.

Rex is survived by his loving parents, Craig and Amber Franzen of Gentry, Arkansas; brothers, Gus, Piper, Seth and Erick; paternal grandparents, Tom Franzen and Linda Franzen, both of Gentry, Arkansas; maternal grandparents, Max and Shari Rietveld of Silver City, New Mexico.

A Memorial Service was held Sunday, October 30th, 2016, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Fayetteville, AR, with a reception following.

Services were provided by Nelson-Berna Funeral Home.
