Memorial services for Orville Dean Austin of Maysville were held at Maysville Missionary Baptist Church on Friday, December 9. Visitation with the family was Thursday, December 8, at Wasson Funeral Home in Siloam Springs. Dean was born on December 27, 1930, in Maysville, to Orville and Verda Austin. He passed away at his home on December 6, 2016, at the age of 85 years, 11 months.

Dean grew up in Maysville and graduated from the University of Arkansas with a degree in Agricultur­e. He married Jo Allen on July 14, 1953. They moved to the family farm in Maysville. She preceded him in death on July 16, 2002, after 49 years of marriage. Dean was manager of the Peterson’s L.P. Gas Company in Decatur and also managed and delivered for Empire Gas in Siloam Springs. Dean and Jo worked hard on their dairy farm, then state award winning breeder hen houses and a beef cattle operation. He raised various crops for many years.

Dean had a very friendly, outgoing personalit­y. He enjoyed nature and annual trips to Wyoming and Colorado. The family also enjoyed boating and water skiing at the lake on weekends. Dean was a member of the Maysville Missionary Baptist Church.

Dean later married Betty Teague on March 12, 2004. They continued raising beef cattle.

Survivors include his wife Betty; daughter Connie and Roy Jackson of Pryor, Okla.; son Eddie and Deborah Austin of Bentonvill­e; daughters. DeAnn and Lindall McMaster of Maysville, and Angela Allen of Pryor; six granddaugh­ters Desiree McMaster, Ashlee Jackson Elliott, Amy Jackson Ramage, Chelsea Austin McKenzie, Elizabeth Moppin, Olivia Austin, and seven great-grandchild­ren; stepson Lonnie and Debbie Teague of Pryor; stepdaught­er Sherry and Mark Whitney of Tulsa, Okla.; five step-grandchild­ren and seven step-great-grandchild­ren; brother Bryant and Janet Austin and sister Verlene Couch, all of Siloam Springs; sisters-in-law Marilyn Hammons of Owasso, Okla., Sherry McMillen of Gentry and Imogene Wester of Pryor, Okla.; many nieces and nephews.

Dean was preceded in death by his parents and first wife, Jo; step-great grandchild­ren Maddie Grace Conner and Kolbie Wedel.
