Smoke on the Border set

The Greater Gravette Chamber of Commerce will host the Smoke on the Border barbecue competition, sanctioned by the Kansas City Barbecue Society, April 1 and 2 at the Hiwasse Community Center, 13690 Firehouse Lane, in Hiwasse. Saturday’s events, planned from about 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., will include barbecue competitions for both youth and adults, people’s choice tastings and vote (with purchase of a $10 wristband), live music and vendors offering Girl Scout cookies, free food samples and arts and crafts. Sunday will feature KCBS competition cookoffs in four categories, chicken, ribs, pork and brisket.
