OBITUARIES

- James Bert Phillips

James Bert Phillips, 81, of Texarkana, died Wednesday, April 5, 2017, in a Texarkana, Texas, hospital.

He was born August 8, 1935, in Westville, Okla., to Hobart and Ruth Phillips. He was retired from the U. S. Air Force and the Red River Army Depot, a member of the Faith Baptist Church, member of the Four States Amateur Ham Radio Club and was a Gideon.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Robert Phillips and Bill Phillips; and a grandson, James Bradley Harper.

He is survived by his wife, Kathryn Kenney Phillips, of Texarkana; a son and daughter- inlaw, James Michael and JoAnn Phillips of Irving, Texas; a daughter and son- in- law, Lisa Kay and Mark Alan Wright of Hutchinson, Kan.; one sister, Elaine Dugan of Gentry; two grandsons; and six great- grandchild­ren.

Funeral services were Saturday, April 8, at the Texarkana Funeral Home chapel with Wallace Edgar officiatin­g. Burial with military honors was in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Texarkana.

Virginia Todd

Virginia Ruth Craig Evans Todd, 85, of Gravette, died April 12, 2017.

She was born April 17, 1931, to Walter and Ada Craig in rural Southwest City, Mo. She graduated from Southwest City High School in 1949. She spent all her life in the northwest Arkansas region. She retired from Farmers Coop and Farmers Supply in Gravette. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Gravette since 1952. She volunteere­d at Care and Share in Gravette and enjoyed yard work and quilting. She especially enjoyed looking after her grandchild­ren.

She was preceded in death by both husbands, Nathan Evans, Jr., in 1973, and Leroy Todd, in 2002; a son, Steven Evans; daughter, Vicki Hearne; four brothers, Leroy, Paul, Eugene and Donald Craig; a sister, Lavonne Jones; and great-granddaugh­ter, Cora Follbaum.

Survivors include her granddaugh­ter, Cassandra J. Owen, of Gravette; and great-grandson, Gabriel Follbaum, of Gravette.

Funeral services were Monday, April 17, at First Baptist Church in Gravette. Burial was in Hillcrest Cemetery in Gravette with arrangemen­ts by Bella Vista Funeral Home and Crematory.
