DECATUR — Kids of all ages gathered in Decatur’s Veterans Park on April 15 to search for hidden plastic eggs filled with goodies like Tootsie Rolls and other candy treats.

More than 100 Decatur area residents and other visitors participated in the Decatur Chamber of Commerce’s annual Easter egg hunt, which was sponsored by Handy Mart/Junction 59 and Vivitar of Northwest Arkansas.

At least 1,000 plastic eggs were hidden for four different age groups — 0-3, 4-6, 7-9 and 10-12.

After the hunt was over, the children counted their takes. The boy and girl in each age group with the most eggs won a prize. There was also a golden egg hidden in each area, and the finder was rewarded with a $10 bill.

Winners in the 0-3 group were Faith with 40 and Francisco with 51. In the 4-6 category, Paisley found 27, Lofton 32, and Bryson found the golden egg. In the 7-9 group, Shayle collected 49 and Ronal 34, with Tonya finding the golden egg. In the 10-12 group, Maggie found 39, while Kevin found 105 and was the top collector of the event. Erik found the golden egg.
