Lady Bulldogs score first win of season

DECATUR — The Decatur Lady Bulldogs softball team won their first game of the season when they traveled to Jasper to take on the Lady Pirates in a doublehead­er.

On the plate for Decatur in both contests was veteran pitcher Cameron Shaffer, with Desi Meek behind home plate.

In the first game, the Lady Bulldogs quickly took control, leading by as many as 10 runs in the first three innings. Decatur took a 10-3 lead going into the final two innings.

Decatur added four additional runs before the contest was called in the fifth inning under the 10run rule, giving the Lady Bulldogs a 14-3 victory and their first conference win of the season.

In the second game, the Lady Pirates won 17-15.

The Decatur Lady Bulldogs are now 1-2 overall going into the second half of the season.
