Gentry Library has distinguished visitors

- Karen McGehee Gentry Library

GENTRY — On Thursday, April 6, the Gentry Public Library had two distinguished visitors, Cameron Reilly and Dakota Farmer. These two young men attend the eighth-grade Gentry Middle School Careers class, taught by Mrs. Smith and Mrs. Wilson. They were job shadowing Karen McGehee, one of the circulation clerks at GPL.

Cameron and Dakota toured the library, pointing out various items of interest from an eighthgrade point of view and taking pictures of items such as the collection of model military ships and the Civil War themed chess set, located in the second floor historical and artifact display area of the library.

After the tour, the youngsters sat behind the circulation desk observing the checking in and out of library items. Lastly, they each completed a PowerPoint presentation based on their individual job shadowing experience. Both of the boys already knew how to use PowerPoint and worked diligently on their presentations, including pictures taken during the tour.

It was a pleasure to participate in this school project, and the experience was a positive one for everyone involved.
