KCS to make repairs to local lines

KANSAS CITY (Mo.) — Kansas City Southern announced on May 16 that its subsidiary, the Kansas City Southern Railway Company, is investing approximat­ely $24.6 million in 2017 on constructi­on and improvemen­t projects on its Pittsburg, Heavener and Shreveport Subdivisio­ns.

Rail, cross tie and crossing improvemen­ts are planned between Neosho, Mo., and Blanchard, La. The work is expected to begin May 30 and continue through late August. Communitie­s that KCSR will work through include Neosho, Anderson, Elk Springs and Noel in Missouri; Watts and Westville in Oklahoma; Sulphur Springs, Decatur, De Queen, Horatio, Winthrop, Wilton and Ashdown in Arkansas; Texarkana and Bloomburg in Texas; and Rodessa, Vivian, Oil City, Mooringspo­rt and Blanchard in Louisiana.

In total, the project will include the replacemen­t of approximat­ely 7.7 miles of rail and approximat­ely 90,000 cross ties, as well as improvemen­ts to over 130 road crossings.

Ottensmeye­r. “These investment­s also help us be an economic growth partner to our customers and the communitie­s through which we operate.”
