Gentry Medical Center welcomes Dr. Carl Duncan

GENTRY — The providers and staff are proud to announce the arrival of Dr. Carl Duncan. Duncan is not new to the area. He was on staff at the Siloam Springs Medical Center in Siloam Springs for years.

He joins the Gentry Medical Center in Gentry after working for two years for Cherokee Nation Health Services.

“I have always felt a calling to serve others and my time at Sam Hider Health Center in Jay allowed me to work in an underserve­d area and provide quality care for many who are struggling to just get by,” Duncan stated.

Specializi­ng in family medicine, he provides a full range of healthcare services spanning from infancy through adulthood, with a particular emphasis on promoting a healthy lifestyle for all ages.

Duncan provides services such as wellness exams for children and adults, acute care, weight-loss counseling and treatment (including childhood obesity), smoking cessation counseling and the comprehens­ive management of chronic illnesses. He also performs a variety of procedures, such as lesion removal, circumcisi­ons and other minor procedures.

Duncan completed his undergradu­ate studies at Oklahoma Christian University in Edmond, Okla. He received his medical degree from Oklahoma University College of Medicine in Oklahoma City, Okla., and completed his residency and internship at the Great Plains Family Practice Residency Program in Oklahoma City, where he served as chief resident. Duncan is board-certified by the American Board of Family Practice. He has completed training and holds certificat­ion for Basic Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support.

He is married and has three children. He enjoys gardening, raising beef cattle, playing basketball and participat­ing in medical missions (domestic and foreign). Duncan is known for his quality compassion­ate care.

He states that, when he trains his staff, “I tell them to treat everyone like they are family. I understand that healthcare at times is complicate­d and I work to advocate for my patients to get the best care possible.”
