Gentry School Board reorganizes
GENTRY — In a brief meeting on Oct. 16, the Gentry School Board reorganized and then heard reports and updates.
Coye Cripps will continue to serve as board president, David Williamson as vice president, Randall Bolinger as secretary and primary board disbursement officer and Jim Barnes as alternate board disbursement officer. Terrie Metz, district superintendent, was appointed as the board’s ex-officio financial secretary. Bolinger will be the delegate to the Arkansas School Boards Association.
The board voted to schedule school board elections in May rather than to hold them in conjunction with general election dates in November.
Jason Barrett, the district’s transportation and maintenance supervisor, told board members Flintco, construction manager for the Career and Technical Education Center, would be returning to repair some chips in the epoxy floor in the diesel lab and would redo the epoxy finish on the entire floor during the next school break. He also reported that work was on schedule at the Intermediate School campus with footings poured and the slab to be poured last week and masonry work already underway. Barrett also reported on work to remove graffiti from the dugouts on the ball fields.
The resignation of classified employee Charlie Rippy was accepted by the board.
Metz told the board the state fire marshal would be coming to the school campuses to determine if the school district was fully compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act or if there were deficiencies the district needs to address.
The next regular meeting of the Gentry School Board will be at 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 13, in the meeting room at the Gentry Pioneer Activities Complex. The meetings are open to the public.
