Eubanks joins Northwest Health Urgent Care staff
Tori Eubanks, FNP, recently joined the staff at Northwest Health Urgent Care in Siloam Springs, now open seven days a week, and is available to see patients.
As a family nurse practitioner (FNP), Eubanks is nationally certified to manage the care of patients across the lifespan. Eubanks noted her past experience as an ER nurse fueled her desire to work in an urgent care setting.
“Before getting my nurse practitioner degree, I was an ER nurse and I previously worked in internal medicine as a nurse practitioner,” Eubanks said. “I realized that I missed the fast-paced environment of acute care while working in internal medicine. I like that I never know what may walk through the door in urgent care. I also like that I can still make connections with patients and may wind up taking care of the entire family. Urgent care combines all my favorite parts of working as an advanced practitioner.
“My favorite part of my job is knowing I can make an immediate difference in someone’s life,” she said. “People don’t come into urgent care when they feel good, but it’s my goal that they leave feeling better, reassured and on their way back to health. I also really enjoy when I can educate a patient or their family member about a diagnosis or a health problem.”
Originally from Springdale, Eubanks received her master of science degree in nursing from Georgetown University.
“I’m originally from Northwest Arkansas but just moved back after having lived in North Carolina. I’m happy to be back in the Ozarks and closer to my family,” she said. “I’m also newly engaged and very excited about this new chapter of my life. In my free time, I enjoy gardening, traveling, listening to music, trying new restaurants and playing with my three dogs.”
As flu season is beginning, Eubanks offered several suggestions on how to protect against the virus.
“First off, get a flu shot before flu season is supposed to start,” she said. “Handwashing is very important at any time, but particularly when flu season comes around. Finally, if you think you have the flu, don’t wait too long to seek care. The treatment for influenza is most effective when started within 48-72 hours after symptoms begin.”
