Spaghetti supper to aid Meals on Wheels

A cake walk and spaghetti supper fundraiser will be held Friday, Feb. 23, at the Billy V. Hall Senior Activity Center, 1870 Limekiln Road in Gravette. The cake walk will begin at 5 p.m. and the spaghetti supper will follow immediatel­y after the cake walk. Meals include spaghetti with meat sauce, garlic bread, drink and dessert. All proceeds go to the center’s Meals on Wheels program that serves homebound seniors in Gravette, Decatur, Sulphur Springs, Hiwasse and Maysville.

‘Have a Heart’ campaign underway this month

The Billy V. Hall Senior Activity Center is conducting its “Have a Heart” campaign during the month of February. Funds are being collected to help give the gift of food to homebound seniors who might not otherwise be able to afford a meal. Persons may donate by mailing funds to Billy V. Hall Senior Activity Center, P.O. Box 1648, Gravette, AR 72736, or by dropping them by the center at 1870 Limekiln Road. According to the center, $15 will feed one senior for a week, $30 for two weeks. Meals are $3 each. Donors may specify a senior recipient if they choose.

Free quilt class offered Saturday at church annex

A free class for area quilters and crafters will be held at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 17, at the Church of Christ annex, 202 Irving St. S.W., in Gravette. Instructio­n will be given on a quilt block and a “show and tell” session will be held. Please bring finished projects or works in progress and a snack to share.

‘Breakfast with Heroes’ pancake supper planned

Gentry Fine Arts Department will be hosting a benefit all-you-can-eat pancake supper called “Breakfast with Heroes,” from 7 to 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 24, in the Gentry High School Cafeteria. Tickets — $5 per person in advance or $7 at the door — are available from any theater or music student or from Casey Jones at tjones@gentrypion­eers.com. Children under 3 eat free. Families are invited to come out to enjoy breakfast. Children may have their pictures taken with the school’s superheroe­s. Money raised from the benefit will help support the high school’s spring musical, “Musing from the Batcave.” The spring musical is scheduled for Friday, April 13, at 7 p.m.; Saturday, April 14, at 2 p.m., with a meet and greet after the show; Saturday, April 14, at 7 p.m.; and Sunday, April 15, at 3 p.m.

Town hall meeting scheduled in Decatur

Benton County officials will host a town hall meeting for local residents from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 26, at Decatur City Hall, 310 Maple Ave., in Decatur. County Judge Barry Moehring said he will make a brief presentati­on on roads, the proposed courts building and other issues, invite other elected officials to speak and then open the floor to questions and comments. The public is invited to attend.

Gentry planning annual chamber banquet

The Gentry Chamber of Commerce Awards Banquet will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 8, at the Wooden Spoon Restaurant. Tickets are $25 each. The program includes a meal and, then, awards to local businesses and residents. Tickets may be purchased by calling 479-736-2358, or reserved by email at info@ gentrycham­ber.com. Nomination­s are being accepted for Volunteer of the Year, Organizati­on of the Year, Business of the Year, Shining Light Award (for a young person who goes above and beyond to make Gentry a great place to live), and Lifetime Achievemen­t Award (for a longtime Gentry resident — living or deceased — who has dedicated his or her life’s work to the city and the people of Gentry). Daddy-daughter, motherson dances set in March

The Gentry junior high cheerleade­rs will be sponsoring the annual DaddyDaugh­ter Dance on March 3 and Mother-Son Dance on March 10 for children, kindergart­en through the sixth grade. The cost is $15 for parent and child ($5 for each additional child) and money can be turned in at any Gentry campus office in an envelope marked “DANCE.” The two dances will be held at the Gentry High School Cafeteria from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Tickets can be purchased from Tahmara Coones (tcoones@gentrypion­eers.com) or Kaye Cripps (kcripps@gentrypion­eers. com). Forms can be found at gentrypion­eers.com. Tickets must be purchased in advance. No tickets will be sold at the door.
