Bulldogs qualify for state at Tiger Invitational Meet

BENTONVILLE — Two members of the Decatur Bulldog boys’ and girls’ track teams qualified for state during the Tiger Invitational Track Meet at Tiger Stadium in Bentonville on March 16.

Because of spring break and another meet in Green Forest, only five teams competed in this year’s event, which included powerhouses Fayetteville, Springdale Har-Ber, Rogers and two smaller schools, Bentonville Haas Hall and Decatur. The Bentonville Tigers took first place with the Decatur Bulldogs placing third.

Decatur’s Desi Meek and Johnny Brandon turned in outstanding performances that qualified them for the state meet in May.

The teams will be off for spring break, but will resume their practice schedule March 26. The next meet for Decatur will be in Eureka Springs on March 30, beginning at 3:30 p.m.
