DECATUR — The Decatur baseball team returned home April 16 for a conference contest against the Jasper Pirates at Edmiston Park ball field. When the dust settled on the field, the Bulldogs took the victory by 15.

Starting on the mound for the Bulldogs was Kevin Garcia, who pitched 1.1 innings and struck out three. Relieving him was Adam Garcia, who completed 1.2 innings, throwing 55 pitches. He had five walks and no strikeouts.

The Bulldogs quickly gained control, scoring two runs in the first inning and five in the second while allowing two runs by the Pirates and taking a 7-2 lead into the top of the third.

In the top of the third, Jasper brought eight runners across home plate to take a three-run lead. That changed when the Bulldogs came to the plate. Decatur scored 18 to win the contest, 25-10.

Game 1 Decatur 0, Omaha 3

The Eagles took the early lead in the bottom of the first inning on three runs. From that point, neither team scored, giving the Eagles a win in the first game of the doubleheader, 3-0.

Game 2 Decatur 1, Omaha 16

In game two, Omaha brought 16 runners home while allowing only one run by the Bulldogs, taking the second game.
