Lady Lions sweep four games in final regular-season contests

GRAVETTE — The Lady Lions won four contests last week, including one against rival Gentry on April 19 at home.

Gravette 19, Prairie Grove 3

In the April 16 game in Prairie Grove, Gravette took an early one-run lead in the top of the first. The Tigers drove in three runs in the bottom of the first to take their only lead in the contest.

The Lady Lions piled on the runs in a 10-run rally in the bottom of the fifth on hits by Lizzy Ellis, Bailey Elmore, Sumer Kaba, Shylee Morrison, Hannah Cole and Lexi Gerner.

Bailey Elmore started on the mound for Gravette, completing four innings. She allowed three hits, three runs, one earned run, and struck out seven and walked one. She was relieved in the fifth by Lexi Gerner, who had one strikeout.

Gravette 16, West Fork 0

In the April 17 game at Lions Softball Field in Gravette, the Lady Lions poured on the runs, scoring four runs in the first, three in the second, four in the fourth and five in the fifth to take a 16-0 win over West Fork.

Gerner started for Gravette, completing three innings, allowing two hits and walking four. She was relieved by Taylor Snow in the fourth. Snow completed two innings and allowed one hit and struck out two.

In Gravette on April 18, the Lady Lions took on the Berryville Lady Bobcats in a makeup game.

The Lady Lions scored two of four runs on a wild pitch by Lady Bobcat pitcher Taylor Kelley in the second inning.

Shylee Morrison, Lizzy Ellis and Keeley Bulza had two hits each and aided the Lady Lions in their 8-1 victory.

Bailey Elmore was on the mound for Gravette, completing four innings. She allowed six hits while striking out five. Gerner replaced Elmore in the fifth, completing three innings and allowing eight hits, one run, one earned run and struck out two.

Gravette 10, Gentry 2

On April 19, the Lady Lions faced the Gentry Lady Pioneers, in yet another conference matchup.

Gerner once again led off the Lady Lions’ scoring with a single in the bottom of the first inning for the first run.

Lizzy Ellis had two of Gravette’s eight stolen bases of the game. Lady Pioneers’ Lynzey Sikes led Gentry in stolen bases with two.

Four runs in the fifth inning on runs batted in by Jaki Chalk, Shylee Morrison and Gabbi Scott sealed the game for the Lady Lions, giving them an eight-run win.

Raegan Jude of Gentry pitched six complete innings. She threw 89 pitches, allowing 12 hits, 10 runs, five earned runs and walking one.

Elmore was the starting pitcher for Gravette. She completed four innings. She allowed two hits, two runs and one earned run. She struck out five and walked one. She was relieved in the fifth inning by Gerner, who completed the remaining three innings. She allowed four hits, walked three and struck out two.
