Prayer breakfast planned May 3 in Gentry

The National Day of Prayer is Thursday, May 3. It will be observed in Gentry with a prayer breakfast at First Christian Church from 7 to 8 a.m. The featured speaker will be Pastor Eddie Knight from First Baptist Church. Everyone in the community is invited to attend.

Kindergart­en, pre-K enrollment set in Decatur

Open enrollment for pre-K and kindergart­en for Decatur Public Schools for the 2018-19 school year will be Thursday, May 3, and Friday, May 4, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Both enrollment­s will take place at Decatur Northside Elementary, 9083 Mt. Olive Road. Requiremen­ts for kindergart­en enrollment include being 5 years of age on or before Aug. 1, 2018, providing a birth certificat­e, up-to-date immunizati­on record, current physical, Social Security number (or the school can use a state-assigned waiver number). Requiremen­ts for pre-K enrollment are being 3 or 4 years of age on or before Aug. 1, 2018, proof of residency, proof of income, birth certificat­e, Social Security number (or the school can use a state-assigned waiver number), current physical and an up-to-date immunizati­on record.

Taco dinner fundraiser slated Friday in Maysville

The Maysville spring fundraiser dinner will be Friday, April 27. The menu is taco salad, drink and cake for $6.50. Serving will begin at 5:30 p.m. Proceeds from the event go towards utilities and other expenses of the Maysville Community Building and grounds. A bake sale will also be available to purchase homemade pies, and a cakewalk will be held for the kids and kidsat-heart.

72 West schedules grand opening Monday

Steve and Jill Mitchael will hold the grand opening of their new business, 72 West, Monday, April 30, at 11507 Highway 72 in Centerton. Ribbon cutting will be held at 9 a.m. 72 West will offer antiques, furniture, baby items, gifts, housewares and jewelry.

Red Cross to hold blood drive at Gravette High

The American Red Cross will hold a blood drive from 4 to 8 p.m., Thursday, May 3, at Gravette High School, 325 Lion Drive. All blood types are needed. A blood-donor card or driver’s license or two other forms of identifica­tion are required at check-in. Individual­s who are 17 years of age, weigh at least 110 pounds and are in generally good health may be eligible to donate blood. High school students and other donors 18 years of age and younger also have to meet certain height and weight requiremen­ts.

Farmers Market coupon signup scheduled

A representa­tive from the Area Agency on Aging will be at the Gentry Senior Activity and Wellness Center, 121 E. Main, in Gentry, from 9 to 11 a.m. and at the Billy V. Hall Senior Activity and Wellness Center, 1870 Limekiln Road in Gravette, from 1 to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, May 1, to sign up senior citizens to receive coupons that can be used to purchase locally grown fruits, vegetables, herbs and honey from local farmers markets. Applicants must be 60 years of age or older and bring photo ID and proof of household income to get signed up. One coupon book per household will be issued to those who meet monthly income guidelines. Income limits are $1,872 for one person, $2,358 for two persons, $3,204 for three persons and $3,870 for four. Healthy Community Fair planned for May 5

Siloam Springs Regional Hospital will hold its annual Healthy Community Fair from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 5. The event is free for all ages and is on the hospital campus at 603 N. Progress Ave. in Siloam Springs. There will be a vendor expo, teddy bear clinic, emergency services vehicles, a “Healthy Journey” activity for the whole family and more. Amateur radio club to meet May 3

The Bella Vista Amateur Radio Club holds its monthly meetings at 7 p.m. on the first Thursday of each month at Highland Christian Church. For those interested in acquiring an amateur radio license, the club also administer­s FCC exams on the second Saturday of each month at 2 p.m. All meetings and exams are held at Highland Christian Church, located at 1500 Forest Hills Blvd (Hwy. 279), in Bella Vista.
