Tired Iron Show slated for Sept. 7-9 in Gentry

The 27th annual Tired Iron of the Ozarks fall show is set for Friday, Sept. 7, through Sunday, Sept. 9, at the Tired Iron showground­s, 13344 Taylor Orchard Road in Gentry. Hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday. The show will feature antique tractors, farm and home tools and implements and antique engines. The show features a working blacksmith shop, working sawmills, a parade of power at noon each day, tractor games, rope making, a log cabin, and a concession stand. The featured tractor this fall is the Ford N Series. The Witte Engine is the featured engine. The show and parking are free to the public. RV parking is also available.

Annual picnic, reunion set for Emerson employees

Emerson Electric Motor Division of Rogers will hold its annual picnic and reunion at the Lake Avalon pavilion in Bella Vista on Sunday, Sept. 9, from 12 to 4 p.m. A-OK Insurance of Pea Ridge will be grilling burgers and hot dogs for the group. Library book sale planned Saturday in Gravette

A used book sale will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 1, at the old Gravette public library building at 407 Charlotte St. S.E., just east of the civic center. Books for all ages, DVDs and CDs will be available at bargain prices, with a whole bag of books going for only $5. Proceeds will be used to fund library programs.

Pickin’ Time on 59 planned for Sept. 27-29

Pickin’ Time on 59 begins Thursday, Sept. 27, and runs through Saturday, Sept. 29. The three-day event promises garage and yard sales from Siloam Springs to Sulphur Springs, both along Highway 59 and in the cities and towns along the state highway. Hours are from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. each day. The annual event will feature yard-sale items, antiques and collectibl­es. Chicken dinner fundraiser at senior center Sept. 28

The Billy V. Hall Senior Activity and Wellness Center will hold a chicken dinner fundraiser from 5 to 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 28. The dinner includes fried chicken, baked beans, potato salad, a biscuit, dessert and drink for $8. Meals may be purchased to eat in or carry out. The center is at 1870 Limekiln Road in Gravette. Call 479-7875050 to order a takeout. All proceeds go to the Meals on Wheels program that serves homebound seniors in Gravette, Decatur, Sulphur Springs, Hiwasse and Maysville.

Third Glow Ride planned Sept. 29 in Gentry

The third annual Glow Ride will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 29. Cyclists will meet on the north side of Gentry City Park to add glow sticks and decoration­s to their bicycles and, at approximat­ely 7 p.m., will ride as a group through part of Gentry. The event is free to all and some glow sticks will be provided to riders without charge. Prizes will be awarded for the best-decorated bicycles. The event is sponsored by the Gentry Chamber of Commerce and all the individual­s and businesses which hold membership in the organizati­on. First Baptist Food Pantry open in Decatur

First Baptist Church, located at 213 E. Roller Ave. in Decatur, will hold a community food pantry on the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month, from 3:30 to 5 p.m. For more informatio­n, contact the church at 479-7523514.
