Gravette Lions Club hosts successful crockpot festival
GRAVETTE — Members of the Gravette Lions Club hosted a very successful crockpot festival Saturday evening, Feb. 17, at the Civic Center. An estimated 60 to 70 people attended the event, which raised almost $400 for the club’s service projects. Members say they are already planning to have a comparable event again next year.
Guests at the festival were treated to a choice of several soups, chili, chicken and dumplings prepared in a crockpot. Bread, also cooked in a crockpot, crackers and cornbread were available to accompany the dishes, as well as shredded cheese, bacon bits and chopped green onions for toppings. Soup selections included broccoli cheese, vegetable beef, loaded potato and “Visitation Soup.” Drinks and desserts were also a part of the meal.
Lions Club members expressed appreciation to all who attended and all who sold advance tickets and worked hard to make the event a success. They say they feel fortunate to be part of a community which is so supportive of their projects to meet needs in the local area.
Local Lions will be helping assemble snack packs for students for spring break Tuesday, March 12, at the Arvest Bank community room. This project is in cooperation with the Bright Futures organization. Coloring books and Crayons for the Northwest Arkansas Children’s Hospital will be collected soon for another local service project.
