HIGHFILL EHC

- Shirley Philpott

The Highfill E.H.C. was called to order by president Peggy Dillahunty on May 20 in the Gentry Library. We recognized our guests, Smokey Roughton and Carol Waggoner. The pledge of allegiance was repeated by all. Our song was “Oh! Susanna” and was sung by all.

Roll call was answered by giving our volunteer hours. We had a total of 743 and a half hours.

Inspirational thoughts were shared by Helene Zambrano. “Our Stove from God” was the topic and it was very good.

The minutes were read and approved. The treasurer’s report was given.

The committee report was given. Centerton had a meeting and plan to have another one June 10. It will meet at Living Waters Church in Centerton. State meeting will be June 3-6. We talked about how to enter items for the Benton County Fair. We can enter items from now until August 2.

New ideas were shared. Jeanie Hittson had a strawberry candle. Sue Etris had an apron she had made. Peggy Dillahunty had a beautiful card and a burlap wreath.

Helene Zambrano had the lesson on “Advance Planning.” There are many things we need to know in the event of sickness or death. Be sure to put important papers in a fireproof box or in a bank safety deposit box. It was very informative. The lesson for June will be on Tornados, and Jeanie Hittson will have the lesson. July will be about food, and Jeanette Petty and Irene Gilbert will give it.

The meeting adjourned with the “Homemakers Prayer.” Next meeting will be June 16 in the Gentry Library and all are invited.
